Introducing yourself
- ¡Hola! (hello) Me llamo… (I'm called…) ¿Cómo te llamas? (what are you called?)
- Tengo doce años (I'm 12): use tener for your age. Mi cumpleaños es el 3 de marzo (my birthday is on 3 March).
- Vivo en Guernsey (I live in Guernsey).
Family and pets
- la madre (mother), el padre (father), el hermano (brother), la hermana (sister), los abuelos (grandparents), el tío (uncle), la tía (aunt).
- Tengo un hermano y dos hermanas. No tengo hermanos (I don't have any brothers or sisters). Soy hijo único / hija única (I'm an only child).
- Pets: un perro (dog), un gato (cat), un conejo (rabbit), un pez (fish), un caballo (horse). Tengo un perro que se llama Max.
Describing people
- Soy… alto/a (tall), bajo/a (short), simpático/a (nice), gracioso/a (funny), tímido/a (shy), inteligente.
- Tengo el pelo castaño (brown hair) y los ojos azules (blue eyes).
Grammar to use
- tener (to have): tengo, tienes, tiene. ser (to be): soy, eres, es.
- Masculine nouns take el or un; feminine nouns take la or una.
- Adjectives ending in -o change to -a for feminine: él es alto, ella es alta.
