Where and how

• Ich fahre nach Deutschland / Frankreich / Spanien / Italien / Österreich (Austria). Use nach for most countries and towns. Some countries have die, so you say in die Schweiz (to Switzerland).
• Ich fahre mit dem Auto (by car), mit dem Zug (train), mit dem Bus, mit dem Schiff (boat), mit dem Flugzeug (plane), mit dem Rad (bike). Ich gehe zu Fuß (I walk).
• Ich wohne in einem Hotel / auf einem Campingplatz (campsite) / bei meinen Großeltern (with my grandparents).

Holiday activities

• Ich schwimme im Meer (in the sea). Ich liege am Strand (I lie on the beach). Ich besuche Museen (I visit museums). Ich esse Eis (I eat ice cream).
• Seasons: im Sommer, im Winter, im Frühling (spring), im Herbst (autumn).

Past and future holidays

• Past: Letztes Jahr bin ich nach Italien gefahren (last year I went to Italy). Ich habe am Strand gelegen. Es war toll (it was great).
• Future: Nächstes Jahr werde ich nach Spanien fahren (next year I will go to Spain).
• Opinions: toll (great), super, schön (nice), langweilig (boring), schrecklich (terrible).
